Page Steel Fabrications are contracted to supply all drafting,
Metal decking & shear Studs, Fabricated structural steel,
Temporary handrail and site erection. The project comprises of 1300
tn of structural steel with majority being supplied uncoated. The
VCCC project has been modelled and detailed in house by Page Steel
Fabrications drafting department using Tekla Structures. Part of
the conditions of construction had been the existing operating
theatres situated directly below the first erection level had to
keep functioning during construction. The tower crane and on site
personal had to stand down when an helicopter landed on the
adjacent helipad for the hospital to receive patients. A very small
lay down area of one load only had been provided, so all loads had
to be meticulously loaded with the correct staged steel. Page Steel
Fabrications provided full coordination of the programming of steel
erection / installation of temporary handrails and the fixing of
the metal decking carefully following the very specific order of
construction to facilitate the unique inner city existing hospital
site
